Why Switzerland has the CHE country code

I'd always been confused as to why Switzerland had the country code CHE / CH, as that sounds nothing like Switzerland. Apparently it's from the Latin 'Confœderatio Helvetica', meaning 'Helvetic Confederation'. Apparently using the Latin name means that it doesn't favour one of the country's official languages. Which is nice.

Confoederatio Helvetica (CH)

Confoederatio Helvetica (CH) does favour one of Switzerland's official languages, as it's Confédération Helvétique in French! The German version of this title is Helvetisches Bund although you also see Schweizerische Eidgenossenschaft.
