Traveling through Chhattisgarh

It is also known as rice bowl of central India, this newly carved state Chhattisgarh was ealier a part of the state of Madhya Pradesh in India.

Chattisgarh in Hindi means land of thirty six forts and rightly so albeit there more than this number of forts and places put together. Kawardha is one such example.

i drove through almost six hundred  kilometers in this state and a couple of hundred kilometers accross by rail. Main stay was a hotel in Raipur this hotel was the center point of my journey into Chhattisgarh heartland.

Chhatisgarh is a beautiful state and it has a deserving capital in Raipur which is environmentally clean and green all over. Industrial pollution is not marked as industries are spread far and wide away from the main town.

The forest cover in this exotic land of tribals is amazing and so is it wildlife. I stayed at Achanakmar and Barnawapara best wildlife sanctuaries and had an exciting tiger sightings and that of other major mammals and birds.

The  forest cover invites creation of more wildlife sanctuaries as well as setting up of hotel industries like that have been estabilished in Kanha and Bandhavgarh. The hotel accommodation at Kanha and Bandhavgarh far out does that of hotels in wildlife places in Chhattisgarh. Never the less this one of themost exotic and exciting destination in India for travelers.
