Hi,
I have seen that several users have many visits but with no dates of the visits and they appear high up in the most visits list (2nd is kiwiflyer for example).
I can appreciate that people will not necessarily remember the exact dates of all their past visits but some of these just look bad. Therefore, should it really be allowed to enter a country more than once without any dates? Is it not better to only allow a country to be entered a second time if at least the year and month is entered?
regards
Jason

Jason, is this a contest for you? I noticed you wanted croatia added for visits BEFORE yugoslavia broke up-- did you mean prior to unification? are you that old?
who cares how many times or how many countries people have been...there is no first prize..but I suppose you could boast to friends. Almost certainly peole make stuff up, but why? I will never understand
Most Visits
Hi,
Thank you for your comments! The main reason for allowing countries to be added several times is to let people record multiple visits to a country, for which they might not know all the dates of entry and exit. We don't want to unnecessarily restrict the way people can use the site.
It is easy, of course, for users to provide false information about their travels, which is certainly not in keeping with the spirit of the site, but at the same time quite hard to prevent.

but at the same time, why would anyone WANT to?
Not a contest, just play fair.
Well panorama, if it was a contest then I would not win. But why not play fair? And appreciate the "spirit" of the site?
If you look at some profiles they, IMHO, do not appear genuine because there is not a single date against any of the entries and while I can not recall all of my trips if I have no date information at all then I only enter it once, not multiple times as is the case with other users. And I would expect dates against at least some of them, even if it is just a year.
Of course such things can not be stopped but why not try to reduce it? Or make some other way of adding data relevant, i.e. The number of times you have visited a country instead of the date.
As for going to Croatia before the break up, well I assure you panorama that I am younger than you!
my 2c
I guess what seems a little strange (to me) is that the people with the most visits (at least the few that I've bothered to look at) seem to include their home country as a 'visit' everytime they return home.... I would have thought that a trip from HOME to CountryA and return should only be considered as one visit to CountryA...
as previously noted though, other peoples stats are their own affairs... just seems to make a mockery of some the 'rankings' I guess...
happy travels
Then maybe we should get rid
Then maybe we should get rid of the rankings?!
What do users think of
What do users think of counting the visits excluding visits to your own home country?

Most Visits
I do not see this website as a forum to compete with other travellers. It is interesting to see where people have travelled, to recieve information and to keep track of my own travels. I personally do not consider my homecountry a country I visit after I return from my travels.
Just entered it once to count.
Keep on travelling!
I also never enter my home
I also never enter my home country as a visit - can't see the reason to do that. So I think excluding visits to your home country is a good idea.
Yep... sounds like a good
Yep... sounds like a good idea to me!
ok ..but,
I haven't lived in my "home" country for over 11 years...visited for a week or two, traveling to new as well as familiar places, but haven't actually lived there...so its really a visit- but for the sake of happiness Ill remove those visits if deemed important.
that's an interesting
that's an interesting point.... possibly could only be overcome with definition of a 'birth country' where you were born, vs. a 'home country' where you are currently living.. gets complicated huh :-)
most vists?
I entered the usa even though its my home country, as ive been to much of it. I dont agree with saying that youve visited each time you pass through, but i think if youve visited more than 1/3rd to 1/2 your own country, than you should/ could put it... i mean, theres so many variations in a country and if you feel that youve visited more of it than most, than maybe you be allowed. Makes sense to me at least.
I probably could add a year
I probably could add a year and month to most of my visits - it just takes time to do so. Exact dates will be much harder. As for entering home country - I do that because while I get home lots of times I rarely spend long there so each visit is important to me. It is also useful for me to keep track of - there are tax and customs issues I have to deal with for example related to being out of the country so much.
Edited to add - I've now updated my trips with month and year. It seems I missed a handful before.
