I noticed that a person claims to have travelled 226 countries, personally I doubt that this is true and I think it is just a joke. A pitty for peoply who seriously keep their record on your wonderful site.
Well I certainly don't
Well I certainly don't believe them. But having said that they aren't alone.
A small percentage of people claim they have visited countries that ceased to 'exist' before they were born. Former USSR states etc.
As there isn't a prize at the end of day whats the point of lying. Ordinarily I couldn't careless how many countries people have been to.
Big-urf-travellers, I'm in awe of. They are genuine. I'd love to live that life style. Good luck for future travel.
Antarctica
Yes, this sounds a little suspicious:
(when British Antarctic Territory)
(when French Southern and Antarctic Territories)
(when Dronning Maud Land)
Well, I've met a chap
Well, I've met a chap called Phil Haines who is in the Guiness Book of Records as the youngest person to visit every country. That is a shorter list than the passportstamp.com list though, but still an impressive achievement.
That said, some of the entries in the 226 look a little dubious.
I believe it
There is a US based travel club called the travelers century club, membership requirement is that you must have been to 100 plus countries as defined by the TCC . The club divides the world into 317 "countries" and there are many members who have been to them all or one short of the 317 as Wake Island is currently off limits. So I dont think that this claim is bogus. Also check out mosttraveledpeople.com.
