I also came across some member's travel records which included planned trips up to 2010. It is great to plan in advance but if you want to have meaningful statistics I suggest that those planned trips simply don't count until actually completed.

the same holds good for including countries in transit. many members include them, some don't. I don' t do it for the simple fact of not wanting to clutter up 'my' map with countries I actually haven't been to. Including transit I would easily boost my country list by 7 or 8, my 'visits' by up to 70. so my suggestion would be to provide statistics that would somehow differentiate between visits and transits (e.g. one statistic including transits and one that doesn't).
