You seem to have missed a few countries.
1. Easter Island - you have listed a number of island territories as "countries", even though they are officially part of USA or France or UK. You seem to have missed Easter Island. Whlie Easter Island is "owned" by Chile; historically, it was independant, then occupied by Peru, and now by Chile. Chile has mentioned that Easter Island is allowed to decide its future for itself, but for economic reasons, it is staying with Chile. So, if you are listening Guam and Reunion and Falklands, you should be listing Easter Island in your country list.
2. Northern Cyprus - despite not being recognised/accepted as a country, for all intents and purposes, it operates as a country, and is recognised by Turkey. Taiwan and Palestine are not recognised as countries internationally, and yet you have listed them in your country list; then, you should be listing Northern Cyprus as a country. I don't think Northern Cyprus and Cyprus will be reunifying anytime soon; just like China and Taiwan are not likely to be reunified anytime soon. So, if Taiwan is listed, then, Northern Cyprus should be listed, too. And yes, you need your PASSPORT to cross from Cyprus into Northern Cyprus, and you will get your STAMP.
Thanks for the
Thanks for the e-mail.
As ever, we use the International Standard list of countries to avoid any political bias.
Easter Island -- is indeed included in Chile. We'll put up a note on the country page some time soon to identify any of these regions that are included in a country. In the meantime, Chile:
Includes Easter Island, Juan Fernández Islands, Sala y Gómez Island, San Ambrosio Island, San Félix Island
Northern Cyprus -- One could also comment on the status of the UN Buffer Zone and the Sovereign British bases. Cyprus is defined as 'The Republic of Cyprus', which is the internationally recognised state for the island. Soon we will be adding country subdivisions, which will make it clear which areas you have visited.
In the meantime, please feel free to use the notes facility in your travel page to make the distinction.
Northern Cyprus
is not a country, but an occupation
