As of midnight local time in the Netherlands Antilles on 10-10-10 that country has ceased to exist. It has fallen apart into the countries (within the Kingdom of the Netherlands) of Curaçao and Sint Maarten, while the smaller islands of Saba, Sint Eustatius and Bonaire have been incorporated into the (European) Netherlands.

Thanks very much for the update -- we will change the country list as soon as this has been confirmed by ISO.

Where are the new countries?
Been more than a month, guys.

I already gave you the link to the Washington Post article.
There is no question that it has happened. Get on the ball, people.
Or are 'we' going to try for a new record in how long of a delay after new countries are declared you will wait for the slow wheels of the United Nations Statistics Division and then the ISO get around to pulling their heads out of the ... sand before we blink and suddenly 'recognize' no longer new countries?

Reply from UN Statistics Division -- should be soon
After sanitizing specific individual names, the response:
'Dear 'steve32',
This is to acknowledge receipt of you inquiry concerning the status of
implementing the new country codes for Curaçao, Sint Maarten (Dutch part)
and the special municipalities of Bonaire Saba and Sint Eustatius under the
Standard Country and Area Codes for Statistical Use (M49) and ISO 3166.
Please be informed that we are in the final stages of completing this
process in collaboration with ISO and in consultation with Statistics
Netherlands, Central Bureau of Statistics in Sint Maarten and Curaçao. We
have already reserved the necessary M49 country codes for both Sint Maarten
(Dutch part) and Curaçao including a collective code for the special
municipalities of Bonaire Saba and Sint Eustatius.
However, we are still awaiting word from ISO regarding the official names
to be used for Sint Maarten (Dutch part) and municipalities of Bonaire Saba
and Sint Eustatius. We hope to make the official announcement and posting
of these newly created codes at our website as soon as possible.

Netherlands Antilles now St. Maarten and Curacao
St. Maarten, Curacao celebrate increased autonomy
By JUDY FITZPATRICK

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten -- Several thousand revelers gathered in the capitals of tiny St. Maarten and Curacao on Sunday to celebrate greater autonomy within the Dutch kingdom as a result of the breakup of the Netherlands Antilles.
At the stroke of midnight Saturday, officials lowered the blue-and-red Netherlands Antilles flag and raised the flags of St. Maarten and Curacao in their place. On Sunday morning, parliament members and other government leaders on the two Caribbean islands were sworn in.
