Travelers,

I'm flying to Malaysia during Thanksgiving week. I was thinking to go to Kuala Lumpur and some beaches. Could you let me know any cool place to hang out. I'm traveling by myself, looking more for place to hang out with local people, peaceful place where I can write and some good dive spot.

Hi Solamian,

I have just returned from Sabah, in Borneo ( Malaysia) which is a two hour hop by plane from KL

They have world famous diving/beaches there- Sipadan especially.

However, I stayed near Kota Kinabalu at a beautiful resort/hotel caleed Shangri la Rasa Ria. There is also diving nearby. (abdul Rahman marine park)

Check the weather as I think we are now approaching rainy season

Thanks a lot for your reply ! I usually only buy my ticket and book my first hotel night when I travel. Is it easy to buy plane tickets and acess the beaches from KL or should I plan everything before leaving ?

You can visit the Elephant Conservation Farm at Kuala Gandah which is at one and a half hour's journey from Kuala Lumpur. Also don't miss the chance to see the unique phenomenon of trees lit by fireflies on late-afternoon at Kuala Selangor. It’s really fascinating…. You will definitely love it….
