CA4 (Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Honduras)

Is it true (please say it's not) that these countries have a Schengen-style common travel area with no passport stamps?  Is there any way of asking nicely for a stamp at a land border, or is it completely out of the question?

Stamps

Hi LHRstarG

I am from El Salvador and used to travel a lot to Honduras and Guatemala by land, as far as I am concerned everytime I crossed the border (to Honduras or Guatemela)I would get a stamp on my passport.

Unless things have changed a lot! I really don't think they have adopted a Schengeen-style common travel.

Honduras didn't stamp my

Honduras didn't stamp my passport in June when travelling overland from El Salvador. Nicarague, Costa Rica and Panama did. That is with a UK passport.

I'm planning a trip there

I'm planning a trip there too! I hope they stamp my passport - it's a very new one, so is looking a bit empty at the moment....

You only need to ask

I am sure the immigration officers would stamp your passport if you ask them to. Just make sure you know how to ask in case you get an officer that does not speak English.

Por favor, me podria estampar el pasaporte con un sello de entrada/salida.  This translates: Could you please stamp my passport with an entry/exit stamp.  (entry/exit depending on wether you are arriving or leaving, I remember them stamping entry and exit when travelling by land)
