In the summer, I'm looking to do some budget traveling across Germany, and also possibly Austria, for a couple of weeks Starting at the furthest point, and ending up in Amsterdam to get a flight back home. My main reason is to practice my German, but I also love what I've seen of Germany so far, and can't wait to see more.
I hope to go via the Bodensee/Lake Constance and Stuttgart, as I should be able to stay with friends a night or two in those places.
What I would really like is some advice about the best ways to do this.
If it is possible, I would like to get a two week rail card and a youth hostel card, and stay in youth hostels (JHB). Do you think this would be feasible and how much should I expect to pay?
Any advice or further suggestions you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Linden
I'd get the Lonely Planet
I'd get the Lonely Planet guides to Germany and Austria and stay in the cheapest hostel/guesthouse in each city you go to. Save the money on the accommodation so you can use it for everything else. Stuttgart is nice, but there's not a ton to see here.
